Sri Lanka's modern inland aquaculture farm raising GIFT Tilapia using sustainable Biofloc Technology — no antibiotics, minimal water usage, maximum quality.
Located in Karaitivu, Sri Lanka, IA Tilapia Farm uses Biofloc Technology to raise high-quality GIFT Tilapia in a sustainable, controlled environment — delivering fresh fish to local markets year-round.
BFT is a sustainable aquaculture method where beneficial microorganisms convert fish waste into live food — reducing cost, improving growth and protecting the environment.
The system recycles water using microbial communities. Only 50–100 litres per tank is exchanged daily — saving water and preventing pollution.
Closed-system tanks with shade netting and controlled aeration reduce disease risk and protect the fish from outside contamination.
The microbial protein in the floc supplements commercial feed, improving FCR to 1:1.2 and achieving 300–350g harvest weight in 6 months.
4–12m diameter growing tanks and 4–5m nursery tanks built with food-grade HDPE sheets — durable, food-safe and easy to manage.
Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia developed over 10 generations — known for fast growth, high survival, good flesh quality and disease resistance.
No solid waste is produced. Water released at the end of each cycle is nutrient-rich and used for agriculture — a complete circular system.
Harvested at peak quality and delivered fresh to local markets, restaurants and direct buyers across the region.
Available live, directly from the pond. Ideal for restaurants and buyers who prefer the freshest possible fish.
300–350g average weight
